Product Description - Apple Gourd Desi Seeds / Tinda Vegetable Seeds

Apple Gourd, also known as Tinda, is a versatile vegetable grown from Desi seeds that can be cultivated annually. These seeds produce plants that thrive in full sun and can tolerate moderate shade, making them easy to grow. The apple gourd plant produces small, round, green fruits that are a staple in many Indian cuisines. This plant is highly valued for its tender and delicious fruits, which add both nutritional value and ornamental beauty to any garden.

Apple Gourd plants are particularly popular due to their consistent yield and ease of growth. From the early summer until the first frost, these plants flourish in warm conditions but can also tolerate mild shade. The seeds grow into robust plants with a mature size of up to 3 feet in height. They adapt well to loamy soil, making them an ideal choice for gardeners looking to add nutritious and flavorful vegetables to their harvest.

How to Care

  • Planting: Plant Apple Gourd seeds in manure-rich, warm soil. Sow seeds 1-2 inches apart in well-drained loamy soil. For best results, start seeds in a seedling tray placed in full sun. Once the soil outside is warm enough or when the first greens appear, transfer them to the soil or suitable grow bags (at least 12 inches deep).
    - Watering: Keep the soil adequately moist until the first green growth appears. Afterward, water generously 2-3 times a week or whenever the soil feels dry. Water deeply to strengthen roots.
Temperature: Apple Gourd plants thrive in temperatures between 20-30°C. Ensure they are planted in a warm, sunny location to promote healthy growth.
    - Fertilizing: Use a balanced fertilizer with a Nitrogen-Phosphorus-Potassium ratio of 10-10-10 every 2-3 weeks. This will provide the necessary nutrients for robust plant growth and fruit production.
    - Pest Control: Protect plants from common pests such as aphids, caterpillars, and whiteflies, which can attack younger plants. Apple Gourd plants are also susceptible to powdery mildew and downy mildew. To prevent fungal attacks, ensure adequate spacing and proper watering. Use organic solutions like SamsGarden Store Bio Pest Control to prevent pest and fungal issues.
